Safety Improvements
Designing the exposure out rather than managing it.
The problem
Warehouse injuries cluster predictably: manual lifting, repetitive reaching, working at height, and shared aisles with powered equipment. Training and PPE manage the exposure; they do not remove it.
How automation helps
Automation removes categories of exposure outright. If operators do not climb, do not carry, and do not share aisles with forklifts, the corresponding incident types stop occurring rather than becoming less frequent.
Practical moves
- Eliminate manual handling of heavy and repetitive loads
- Ergonomic presentation height at fixed stations
- Fewer people in aisles shared with powered equipment
- SCADA-level fault detection, E-stop monitoring, and error logging
